In December, the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity will host the annual Alpha Gamma Rho Winter Bonanza. The OSU chapter of the AGR Fraternity annually hosts the Bonanza and has experienced a steady increase in attendance throughout the event.
Member Involvement
Many members of the fraternity were involved with livestock shows and feel the Bonanza provides them an opportunity to help youth experience some of the memories they had as members of their hometown 4-H and FFA chapters. In addition, it allows the members to interact with potential college students and encourage them to attend Oklahoma State University.
The public is invited to come take part in the Bonanza. All proceeds from the Bonanza benefit a non-profit organization.
The Pi Chapter Philanthropy
The main goal of the Winter Bonanza show is to act as a philanthropy for an individual or cause involving agriculture. Whether it be a medical condition, natural disaster, or other challenge, we aim to give back to those around us. All exhibitors are allowed to donate 10% of their winnings to the philanthropy.
This year, we will be donating to the OSU Pete’s Pantry. This pantry is through the Oklahoma State University Student Government Association, and works to alleviate food insecurity on campus- something that 43% of current students struggle with according to a 2019 student survey. We believe this is a perfect combination of serving those around us while also supporting agriculture and agriculture products.
In addition, we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Jay Bogdahn. A longtime friend of Pi Chapter, Jay suffered a stroke, and we look to aid in the expenses associated with his surgeries and recovery.

Heart of a Champion
Heart of a Champion is a one-day event that is a part of the Winter Bonanza show. We invite Special Needs children and teenagers from the state of Oklahoma to participate in this hands-on experience with livestock. All participants are paired with a few active members of AGR, and given either a sheep or goat to exhibit around the ring. We have been fortunate to have OSU wrestling Coach John Smith join us as the guest announcer for the last few years, interacting with and interviewing each of the participants.
All exhibitors get a free pizza lunch and t-shirt, as well as an unforgettable experience with livestock.
